Ho, Woe, and the Counterfeit Call: Why Santa Isn’t Cute

Ho, Woe, and the Counterfeit Call: Why Santa Isn’t Cute

By American Nana • Front Porch Truths

In Scripture, the word “Ho” is not slang and it’s not silly. It’s a Hebrew attention call — a summons from God. A divine “HEY, LISTEN.”

And here’s the kicker:

“Ho” and “Woe” come from the same Hebrew root — Strong’s H1945.

Same word family. Same sound. Same entry in the concordance.

Different spirit behind the voice.

“Ho, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters…”
— Isaiah 55:1

Ho (H1945) = Hey! Stop. Listen. Return.

It is heaven shouting, “Turn around and come back to Me.”

“Woe unto them that call evil good…”
— Isaiah 5:20

Woe (H1945) = Warning, danger, sorrow, judgment.

Same Strong’s number. Same sound. Completely different intent.

God uses the same word to either call you back or warn you before destruction.

So What Spirit Is Behind “Ho, Ho, Ho”?

In the Bible, God says “Ho!” to wake you up.

The world’s seasonal idol says “Ho Ho Ho” — not to call you back, but to keep you entertained and asleep.

One voice calls you to return.
The other voice distracts and delights you into apathy.

People say, “It’s harmless.”

Santa Is Not Harmless — He’s a Counterfeit

Satan doesn’t need horns — he just needs a convincing substitute.

  • All-knowing (sees you, judges behavior)
  • Rewards “good works”
  • Arrives from above
  • Has supernatural helpers (elves = spirit lore)
  • Brings “gifts”
  • Receives seasonal worship & songs
  • Children are trained to believe in him

That’s not cute — that’s counterfeit Messiah energy.

“The whole world is deceived.”
— Revelation 12:9

Deception doesn’t feel evil — it feels normal. Traditional. Harmless. Festive.

That’s why it works.

Ho Was God’s Call. The Enemy Mocked It.

God: Ho! Come. Return. Repent.
Santa: Ho Ho Ho — eat, shop, indulge, believe in magic.

One voice awakens.
The other distracts.

Same syllable. Different spirit. Same Strong’s number — opposite mission.

“My sheep hear My voice.”
— John 10:27

Time to Choose the Caller

Tradition doesn’t sanctify deception.

Jesus does not share His glory with myths — especially ones aimed at children.

Ho, from God, calls you to life.
Ho Ho Ho, from the world, lulls you to spiritual sleep.

One voice says “Come to Me.”
The other says “Believe in magic.”

I know which voice I’m answering.

“Come out from among them and be separate.”
— 2 Corinthians 6:17
